Do Now:  Quiz on BR poster. 


Aim:  Development of skills to interpret outreach materials on environmental issues.


Major Assignment:  Learn about a local association using their outreach materials.


Processes, Skills, Goals:  Analysis of the creative expressions of people who specialize in delivering science content to the general public.


Content:  Story of the Bronx River as locally restored habitat.


Instructions:  After quiz assessing student performance on homework assignment, lead students to learn more about the Bronx River through additional association outreach materials.


Materials:  BRA newsletters, posters, and brochures.


Guiding Questions:  What colors did the author choose?  What arrangement of text and pictures?  Is it easy to read?  Close your eyes - can you remember the poster?  What do you remember?  Why do you think that is?  How can you use the selection and placement of text and pictures to lead the viewer to a feeling and understanding about the topic?  


Homework:  Compose draft newsletter, poster, web site, or brochure about the class so far.
