Activity:  Peer Review in the Science Classroom


Pre-Activity:  Creation of a newsletter on a topic pertaining to the science of seals.


Do Now:  Review a classmate's outreach material. 


Aim:  Development of Skills for Peer-Review in Science.


Major Assignment:  See how your outreach material was interpreted.


Processes, Skills, Goals:  Analysis of the one's own creative expressions in terms of judgement of efficacy.


Content:  Students build assessment skills.


Instructions:  Ask students to examine and review each other's work in terms of the rubric.


Materials:  The rubric.


Guiding Questions:  What are you looking for in great performance?  What did you put into your assignment?  Did the materials inform you?  Did you agree with what was presented?  Would you recommend that other's read it?  To learn what?  What about the layout did you enjoy?  How does the presentation make you feel?


Homework:  Provide a peer review of a BRA outreach item.
